A Fan Theory by Mauri Lazaro By now we all have probably seen the title script tease that Adam Horowitz tweeted of the upcoming episode entitled “Mother”. We, the staff of OUAF, have chatted and voiced our theories on which mother the episode title is referring. Most of us are thinking it is Cora. In our conversations of mothers on the show, one staff member stated that she wanted to know who Rumple’s mother was and what happened to her. I jokingly said, “Maybe Blue is Rumple’s mom?” but the more I thought about it, and as crazy and random as it seems, I couldn’t shake the idea. It would just be our favorite Dark One’s luck to have the person that he hates the most turn out to be the person that should be the dearest to him. Over the course of the last four seasons Blue has acted pretty shady at times. She lied to the Charmings about letting Pinocchio go through the wardrobe, she knew about the book and author, she banished Tink for helping Regina, she kept Dreamy and Nova apart, and she acted strangely when she came out of the hat. She could be upset because the Sorcerer’s hat is in Storybrooke, but there’s always something more going on with her, just like Rumple. Maybe she’s withdrawn because her son tried to kill her? Then there is her Storybrooke title. Blue is the head of the fairies, a convent of nuns in the real world because of their good will, making her Mother Superior. But could this title have a double meaning? Could she be Mother Superior because in fact she is a mother and the leader of the fairies? Baelfire and Blue Blue grants Bae’s wish of sending him and his father to a land without magic to undo his father’s Dark One curse. She gives him a magic bean that creates a portal to another realm. Baelfire goes through the portal, but Rumple becomes afraid and stays behind. Rumple realizes his mistake and calls out to Blue. Blue tells him that there are not any more magic beans to make another portal. Rumple becomes enraged, and starts asking her if there are other ways to get to a land without magic. She finally agrees with him that there is a curse that could take him to Baelfire. Tink and Blue Tink takes it upon herself to redeem Regina. Blue becomes furious when she finds out what Tink has been doing. Blue knows that Rumple has been teaching Regina dark magic and for what purpose, so why wouldn’t Blue want to try to stop Regina from eventually enacting The Dark Curse? Does Blue want The Dark Curse cast to rectify the situation she caused between Bae and Rumple? What makes Baelfire so special that she would let Rumple and Regina curse the entire Enchanted Forrest? Either she is the biggest bad or Baelfire means something to her. Dreamy & Nova When she was telling Nova that what she was feeling for Dreamy wasn’t real love and that their union would only lead to despair, I always thought that she was referring to a past experience, one that she had with another fairy which had ended tragically. At the time I thought that the fairy might have been Maleficent falling for Stefan and that’s why Maleficent went dark. But what if Blue was talking about herself? The Blue Theory Malcolm, Rumple’s father, could have charmed her. Charm + Love = baby. Blue eventually realizes that Malcolm doesn’t really love her and she has to return to the fairies. Then Malcolm, when Rumple was older, could have told him that his mother ran off because she didn’t love him, making Rumple dependent on him. I really wouldn’t put it past him to tell Rumple something like that about his mom even if his mom isn’t Blue. He was such a jerk. And having to watch her son from afar would be despairing for her. The timeline would work out being that Blue, Malcolm (a.k.a Peter Pan), Rumple, and Baelfire are all hundreds of years old.
I know this is an insane theory, but it would be the mother of all plot twists!
