Once Upon A Costume: Prince Charming/David Nolan by Mia Bennet (@must_be_mia1) Prince Charming, aka David Nolan, has a very good sense of style when it comes to clothing. He dresses sharp as a prince in the Enchanted Forest, yet very clean and modern in Storybrooke. Whether he is battling a dragon, attending a ball, or working as the sheriff he certainly knows how to draw attention. Growing up, David did not live a luxurious life as a prince. Instead, he was a shepherd working day and night to support the farm he and his mother lived on. He did not have the nicest of clothes. wearing long shirts and cover ups for his shoulders to keep him warm. David's clothes were suitable for his duties. It was quite a change when King George decided to have David take his twin brother James' place as a prince. Once David went to live with King George, not only did he have to learn how to fight in battles like his twin, but he had to change his wardrobe as well. David had to fit in with his new royal title. He wore outfits for battles and when he went out on adventures into the forest. He had many different Enchanted Forest outwear, and his colors varied from reds, blues, and dark browns. He also wore capes and cloaks, completed with leather pants which held a sword; fitting for a prince. After he met Snow White, his outfits were brought up a notch. David certainly fit the charming profile as he looked dashing for his proposal, wedding, and the balls he and Snow attended. When David landed in Storybrooke, he took an interest in plaid and leather jackets. Even after the curse was broken, he still remained attached to his "cursed" wardrobe and continued to wear comfortable, modern clothing. adding a sheriff badge and jeans. He also enjoyed wearing a jacket or two over his shirt to keep warm in the cold, Storybrooke weather. When David is alone with Snow in their castle or in Storybrooke, he dresses a little differently. He often wears shirts that are fitting for a domestic life. It is nice to see him wear comfortable clothing just for when he is attempting to relax and live a regular life. In 5a, while in Camelot, David quickly started dressing like his old self again. At the Camelot ball, he looked classically handsome in gold and wore armor as well when going on an adventure with Arthur. While having a brief time again in Storybrooke, he went back to his leather jacket, but not before traveling into the Underworld. So far, he has continued wearing his Storybrooke attire. Will this last long? Or will he end up changing while searching for Hook with his family? I'm curious to find out if meeting his twin brother, James, will have an effect on his life, and his wardrobe style.

I've loved every article written by Mia Bennett. I feel she articulates the brilliance of the characters, interpretations of their gorgeous costume choices (courtesy of Eduardo Castro), and ties in fantastic tidbits of the show. If I never watched Once Upon A Time, which I do, after reading these articles it would be on my must watch list. Looking forward to more of your articles Mia!
