Our Decay Recap by Teresa Martin (@Teresa__Martin) Once Upon A Time took us Over the Rainbow this week where troubles most certainly did NOT melt like lemon drops. Zelena and Hades fell for each other, Rumbelle were reunited, Henry began to write, and The Charmings dabbled in a haunting! The episode opens with a throwback to Emma's lonely birthday in the Pilot as Zelena miserably blows out a single candle. Entertainment at her party-of-one? Viewing a rerun of Mama Dearest Cora abandoning her to exposure so that she can give herself "her best chance." A helpful flying monkey interrupts this sad memory, dumping The Scarecrow at her feet. Zelena perks up as she proceeds to explain her plans to make a time travel spell using a rather vital organ of her prisoner. Lucky for him, Warrior Dorothy saves the day informing Zelena she got word about her takeover of Oz and proclaims an intent to stop her. Who told Dorothy? "Munchkins," Zelena snarls. Dorothy responds she has what Zelena doesn't: the love of the people. Zelena's next stop is the Munchkins, She starts to take them out one by one when Hades arrives. Her "handiwork" has impressed him. He is interested in her quest to cast the time travel spell and offers to help her defeat Dorothy if she works with him. Apparently they have a lot in common. Zelena hates her sister as Hades does his brother, Zeus. He's angry because his sibling got to rule Olympus while he got the Underworld. Zeus also stopped his heart. Hades tells her only the kiss of True Love can restart his heart and make him a full man again. Then he can travel back in time to make sure that he ends up on Olympus and his brother suffers. Moreover, he knows where the Scarecrow is. They can both get what they want. In the Underworld Present, Hades is forcing Rumple to make a portal to Storybooke so that he can bring Zelena's baby to him. At the same moment, in Storybrooke, a "too adorbs" scene is playing out as Belle goes to the convent to feed baby Neal and unnamed Baby Hood. The moment ends when Belle gets "Cora'd" by Zelena pretending to be the Blue Fairy. When the real Mother Superior enters, a confrontation ensues, cut short by Rumple's portal which sucks Baby Hood and Belle into the vortex. Zelena jumps in after them. They land in Underbrooke where Zelena injures her ankle. She panics when she realizes Hades wants her baby. She demands Belle give her the child, but Belle runs away. Meanwhile, at the diner, the Charmings are taken aback when the Blind Witch serves them their "usual" oatmeal and dry toast. Being regulars at "The Diner From Hell" makes them realize how long they're been gone, making them miss Baby Neal. Mary Margaret wishes they could find a way to talk to him ... let him hear their voices. The Blind Witch tells them it's a "Simple Level One Haunting." How to do it? Go into a British Telephone Booth and tell the operator who they want to haunt. It must be a favorite pastime because there's a very long line! The Charmings enter. Did it work? Little do they know, the scene in the diner appears in Henry's storybook. He doesn't remember writing. Rather it was there when he woke up. Hook and Emma give Henry tips while Regina tries to bolster him by complimenting the illustrations. Henry gets frustrated that now "everybody's an Author" and storms upstairs. Then, a knock. It's Zelena. She tells them her baby is in danger.. Robin and Regina go with her to find Baby Hood. Robin explains to Zelena that he hasn't named her because Hades can use names against people. Zelena complains that Regina and he left the baby to go on a quest. Regina explains that her enemies became her family and families are there for each other when they need help. Speaking of family, Rumple and Belle are reunited and he informs her they are about to have one. Yes, Belle is pregnant, but he also sold their baby 300 years before the child's conception. The awkward is magnified when it's let slip he's also the Dark One again. However, the usual trope of Belle going off on him and leaving in an understandable huff is put to rest by Rumple laying out what she's always loved: the man and the Beast. He gives her the freedom to choose what she wants, but closes the door to her pretending he is a man he's never been. Belle leaves Rumple to find Robin, Regina and Zelena in the woods and she presents them with a bottle for Baby Hood. Belle is shocked to find Zelena there, but Regina tells her it's ok. Reluctantly Robin hands the baby over to let Zelena feed her. But then Zelena refuses to give the child back and uses magic to escape. However, her magic isn't working anymore. In tears she goes to her farmhouse where Robin and Regina find her. She comes out admitting she can't protect the baby. Robin demands she tell them what happened with Hades. She explains that Hades wants her child for the time travel spell. Zelena says she can't protect the baby and begs Regina to take her. She doesn't care what happens to her, but wants the welfare of her daughter. Regina promises to keep her safe. Sobbing, Zelena hands the baby over. "Mummy has to let you go." In an Oz flashback, Hades brings Zelena to where Dorothy landed in Oz. He takes a bicycle and they go for a ride, Zelena giggling and Hades obviously taken with her. They crash and then Zelena enchants it to find Dorothy and the Scarecrow. With Hades' encouragement, Zelena kills the Scarecrow and takes his brain. Dorothy declares she won't let Zelena win. The witch replies that it's too late, but lets her live so that all in Oz will know that she failed. Hades meanwhile prepares a celebratory dinner. He says he's not going back to the Underworld. Zelena is incredulous. Have they found True love? Hades said his heart fluttered when he was with her and that he will be free once they kiss. He leans in, but Zelena believes it's a trick. He's only doing it for himself, because that is what she would do. Hades says he doesn't want revenge anymore, he wants her. Zelena replies that no one can love her, and even if he did, it would take away her chance for revenge. She sends him away. "You will regret this," Hades warns. Back at the apartment, The Charmings tell Emma and Hook about reaching out to Neal. Mary Margaret explains to her daughter that if she could have just heard their voices when she was growing up... "Would that have made a difference, knowing someone out there loved you?" Later, with all the family assembled, Henry reveals that another story appeared. Baby Neal is in the book. Emma reads aloud that he heard his parents and they sang him a lullaby as he fell asleep. Snow declares it's time to get back to Storybrooke together with their whole family. "We're going to take down Hades and we're going to do it now!" In the final scene, Hades and Zelena meet again. She accuses him of trying to steal her baby for the spell. Hades claims he was only doing it to protect her. He then reveals that everything he did with Underbrooke, he did for her! She has her own Curse, like Regina's. But it's a world full of decay. However it is their decay! He says he chooses her and Zelena can get revenge by having it all with him. But Zelena doesn't trust him. Hades responds that he will be waiting for her if she changes her mind.. And so the stakes are raised! Hades wants Happy Ever After with Zelena....or does he? Is the baby truly just a tool for his nefarious plans? Snow has declared all-out war on Hades, and Belle now knows the full truth about Rumplestiltskin. Next week, Oncers will get to explore these new developments and see if no one gets revenge like Gaston!
