 Original cast members Robert Carlyle, Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, and Ewen Bremner reunite twenty years in this sequel. The film was based on Irvine Welsh's novel about drug addiction in Edinburgh, Scotland. Carlyle reprises his role of Begbie, just released from a 20 year prison sentence and out for revenge on his former childhood friend, Renton, portrayed by Ewan McGregor. The film premiered in the United Kingdom on 27 January 2017 and will be released worldwide throughout February and March 2017.
